On the way to our next location, my friend Nordgriller Urbex and I passed this abandoned farmhouse. It was that typical moment where one looks at the other and says "Did you see that, too?", and you start looking for a place to turn the car around.
We parked the car on the field next to the house and started looking around. There are buildings that look like they're being used, but the farmhouse was definitely abandoned, so we went in to check it out.
It wasn't really spectacular. Mostly empty rooms and no furniture or tools of any kind left. But what made this location worthwile was the fantastic light that the winter sun cast into some of the rooms.
So we did get some nice shots before hitting the...

Japanese hot spring spas are some of the most relaxing places on earth. This exploration though started rather stressful... and almost didn’t happen.

I’ve been practicing with my newly acquired drone, and thought that a theater walkthrough might make for an interesting video. So a few days ago I revisited the Everett Square Theatre in Boston, MA to do just that. I think that I’ll be making many more of these videos going forward.

I’ve been posting Facebook Live videos of the theaters I’ve visited as I’ve been traveling around the country. I’ve decided to branch out to YouTube, and started my own channel.  The theater featured in the video above is the Fox Theatre in Fullerton, CA. I was lucky enough to visit it twice, once in 2014, and again in 2017 after the ceiling was restored. This video is only available in SD, but future ones will be High Definition.

I’ll be posting more videos from theaters across the country soon.

It was back in late November of 2016. I had just bought my new camera and got a text from my good friend Nordgriller Urbex, who asked me if I was up for a short tour the next day.
Of course I was!
I had to get up early the next morning so we'd have enough sunlight for a few spots. Getting up, however, was a difficult task that morning. My wife and I had gotten a little drunk together with a friend from my work and it had gotten a bit too late.
A hot shower and the cold air once I got outside helped to become sober - and it was a beautiful sunny winter day.
We drove East through a snowy landscape until we got to our first location. It was an old ammunitions depot that had originally been built by...

About two years ago I first wrote about hatsumode, the first shrine / temple visit of the new year, on the *Facebook page of Abandoned Kansai* after exploring the *Shiga Shrine*. Let’s make abandoned temples and shrines a new New Year’s tradition by following up with the Shimane Temple… As I mentioned before, I take […]

1st United Methodist Church
1st United Methodist Church

This Church I have driven by for 17 years and always wanted to see the inside. Well the one day I decided to drive by to take this picture was my lucky day. As soon as I was finished taking this outside picture the new owners pulled up and walked in. So I followed the owners into the place and spoke to them. The where kind enough to let me take inside photos and even left me to stay inside when they where leaving. They are looking to restore the church and turn it into some kind of cooking school with a restaurant in the old chapel and leaving all the stain glass windows intact.
As far as history...

Built in 1933/4 the imperial grain warehouse at Leith is an monumental 15-bay flat-roofed concrete grain elevator and warehouse with front block rising 5-storeys over storage base. Expanded twice in the 1950s &  1960s its operation life extended well into the 21st century. It bosts much of it’s original machinary and is in remarkably good condition. Such is its importance to the industrial era of the time it is currnetly Category B listed – this in itself proves a problem for any redevelopment and continues to sit derelict around vast areas of cleared dockland.
